State Law Change Affects All Volunteers including Sea Cadets
The PA Child Protective Services Law changed effective January 1, 2015. This change requires the unit to conduct background checks through provider designated by PA per the requirements of the law. The US Naval Sea Cadets Corps NHQ will continue to conduct background checks, in addition to the checks required for PA.
These changes and associated costs are required by the State of Pennsylvania.
Who Is Required to Comply with the New PA Law?
All Staff Officers and anyone that has regular interaction and/or supervision of cadets.
Timeline to provide the clearance forms.
Any new volunteers who begin their volunteer service on or after September 1, 2015, we must receive the compliance materials before the volunteer participates in any activity where he or she will supervise and/or have direct contact with children under the age of 18.
All current staff will need to complete the required background checks ASAP.
